BS2.0 Class system / progression

Things will be slightly different in BS2.0, one of the major complaints in BS is that there isn’t enough to differentiate the 5 classes.

In BS2.0, new players will start as the generic “sailor” class,

  • Sailor – gets +1 to each stat per level and 1 allocatable per level

then after completing the tutorial missions at about level 10. You’ll get to pick 1 of 4 classes:

  • Solider (replaces commander) – same stats growth as before
  • Pirate – same stats growth as before
  • Mechanic (replaces engineer) – same stats growth as before
  • Scout (replaces explorer) – same stats growth as before

Your allocated stats will remain unchanged when you change classes. Existing traders will be changed to Scouts (everyone will get a class reset, Traders will get a stats reset).

At level 100, you’ll be able to do a job promotion quest. There 2 2nd tier classes to choose from for each class.

  • Knight (upgrade from Soldier) – +1.5Craft, 3 allocatable per level
  • Mercenary (upgrade from Soldier or Pirate) – +1 to all stats, 2 allocatable stats per level
  • Corsair (upgrade from Pirate) – +1.5 GUN, 3 allocatable stats per level
  • Engineer (upgrade from Mechanic) – +1.5Craft, 3 allocatable per level
  • Alchemist (upgrade from Mechanic or Scout) – +1 to all stats, 2 allocatable stats per level
  • Saboteur (upgrade from Scout) +1.5 NAV, 3 allocatable per level

As before your stats will be reset when picking the new class. So what’s in it for you upgrading your class? Ans: More class skills and maybe a different outfit for your character.

Anyway that’s the plan for now. Things might change; they always do.

Knight (upgrade from Soldier) – +1.5Craft, 3 allocatable per level
Corsair (upgrade from Pirate) – +1.5 GUN, 3 allocatable stats per level
Engineer (upgrade from Mechanic) – +1.5Craft, 3 allocatable per level
Saboteur (upgrade from Scout) +1.5 NAV, 3 allocatable per level

The nature of classes hasnt been change at all (other than the name)…

If you want differentiation, class ability is the only way you shall stick with

Is it just me, or does this mean a new character will end up with 15 fewer stat points than a present character? O.o

    don’t kill my trader :(

give us a some sorta of trader class… can go with that island base thing if your still setting that up

could use the Scientist one or something just my trader don’t use gun, he uses nav for the melee,

become Scientist and learn skills that help with production for island base so trader is still someone there,

    because your a Scientist
“you learn how to maximize your engine efficiency to gives you 50% passive travel”

Has it been talked about before that finding or buying different outfits can add certain stats to your ship??? That would be an added benefit other than just looks.

Wow!!! Scientists +1.5 to all stats??? Unbelieveable!!! Guess I’d stay with my engineer… Longinus still great at those lvls then!!!

You’re misreading, Pandy. Scientist has +1 to all skills, not 1.5

@ Jak, we’re not resetting anyone’s account. You just get a stat reset when you upgrade your class.

wow you are testament to what i hate in people i post one thing and you go calling names, it must feel good to be you. oh wait since you call people names it’s obvious that you have some inner turmoil which you let out on others because you lack the ability to deal with it. so come on with more of your fake elitist attitude and show the world how not to be. oh and by the way, yes i didn’t finish reading the whole post, that is my fault. what do you have now besides more names. i feel sorry for people like you.

since trader is no more, who will be having the advantage of doing trading then?

There won’t be anymore trading function in BS2.0. We might make a trading mini-game at some point in the future though.

after giving the entire progression a serious thought, the only class that a rammer is able to enjoy full synergy of the skills is only saboteur…

My suggestion is to get rid of either solider or knight. They are too common. I am interested what you are going to do with the ‘Sailor’ class for Lvl 100 upgrade.

Oh, my mistake I didn’t read the thing where you will choose a job at level 10. Sorry, for the double post and inconvenience. On further note, you should keep solider it sounds better.

Rammers are finally dead. Only Saboteur is usable & for CW is useless if you use bombvoage on Defender you can’t attack fort with 1HP

Out of 6 branches only 1 was thought with ram users in mind? Where is the equality on this game?

The class must be revised before they are launched. It is no way fair to have 5 options for gun user and 1 option for ram user.
